It’s another cold morning, with temperatures ranging from below freezing in areas like Conroe up into the low 40s closer to the coast.
TODAY
It’s still very dry, but dewpoints have recovered some this morning to about 30 degrees. This, at least, is above the desert-level dry air we’ve had. We’ll see full sunshine today, with highs in the upper 60s. After the early chill dissipates it will be a beautiful day.
THURSDAY and FRIDAY
The warming trend continues and we’ll begin to see moisture return from the Gulf of Mexico. This will allow highs to reach the mid-70s under mostly sunny skies on both days, while lows generally remain in the low 50s. It will definitely feel spring-like outside.
SATURDAY
The first half of Saturday will remain mostly sunny, but we could see the return of some more clouds later during the afternoon or evening hours. Highs will again climb into the 70s.
SUNDAY and MONDAY
A weak cold front will help bring the possibility of rain on Sunday with slightly better chances Sunday night and Monday.
Unfortunately we are not talking significant accumulations, more like a tenth of an inch or two. Highs should be around 70 degrees, give or take, both days. We need more after a dry start to the year 2016.
NEXT WEEK
Expect fairly mild weather for the first half of next week, with no real strong fronts nor very warm conditions.

While walking the dog this morning, I noticed the cracks in the ground getting larger. I’m not used to this in February. We need some rain stat!
What happened to El Niño? I thought colder and wetter winter on tap?
Working on something to address that, Greg.
El Nino hasn’t done much in Texas the last month, that’s for sure. Has it helped California enough, or not nearly enough?
It has helped California, but not nearly enough.
