So another winner of a day is on tap for Friday: Lots of sun and highs actually a couple degrees cooler than we saw yesterday. Saturday should be similarly nice, with just a few high clouds perhaps later in the day and highs in the low 60s.
SUNDAY
No real serious weather worries are expected here, but we will start to notice significant changes. Dewpoints should slowly creep up from the 50s into the lower 60s later Sunday. We’ll also add a good bit of cloud cover to the mix with temperatures back up near 70°.
MONDAY/TUESDAY
Eric’s assessment from Thursday is basically unchanged today. It looks rather stormy, but exactly where is very much up for debate. There was a pretty nasty split yesterday between the most reliable weather models as to whether the bulk of the storms impact Houston through Beaumont or more like Beaumont through Lake Charles, LA. That split has narrowed some today, but there’s still a good degree of uncertainty as to exactly who sees the most rain. If I had to guess right now, I’d peg it mostly south and east of Houston, but we will hone in on that as time goes on.
CHRISTMAS EVE/DAY
While it’s still a bit too early to get too specific, we know a few things with a good deal of confidence for Thursday and Friday next week:
- It will be warm.
- There will be a chance of showers, but probably nothing too significant.
- You’ll need to go to the Rockies or West if you want snow.
I don’t speak for the National Weather Service or for Eric, but I’m fairly confident we are going to hit 80° at least once between Thursday and Saturday, possibly twice. A lot of that will be contingent on clouds, timing, etc. But on Christmas, I’m not sure the difference between 76-78° or 80-82° matters a whole lot. It’s going to be very, very warm.
I would love to see a comparison of this December to past Decembers.
Matt –
Great job this weekend, but I don’t think we are putting you in charge of Christmas weather next year 🙂 .
HA! I can’t say I would argue with that. 🙂
Time for the annual Christmas a/c tune up.
For some reason I’ve stopped getting your daily posts on Facebook. I don’t know why. I look forward to them every morning. Any idea how I can fix that?
Not sure, Linda. I do know the best way to get them is to “like” them frequently.
