Spring-like again this week, and has Houston had its last freeze?

Good morning. I hope everyone had a great weekend. This morning we’ll look ahead to spring-like weather and I’l also discuss freeze possibilities for the rest of this winter.

TODAY

There will be a slight chance of light to moderate rain this morning and into the early afternoon hours as a cold front approaches and moves through the region. I’m not expecting significant accumulations of rain and any showers should be fairly brief. Highs today will be in the mid-70s and winds could be gusty this afternoon as the front moves through.

TUESDAY-THURSDAY

We’ll see three splendid and sunny spring-time days highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s. The air will be generally dry so it won’t feel particularly humid out. Enjoy the outdoors!

FRIDAY-SATURDAY

Conditions are even a bit warmer, with highs near 80 degrees, and lows around 60, under mostly sunny skies.

Houston to remain in a mostly Spring-like weather pattern for awhile

Good morning. High dewpoints this morning have contributed to fog, which should burn off later. The region is under a dense fog advisory until 9 a.m.

TODAY

With southwest winds today we should see very warm weather again, with highs likely in the upper 70s to 80 degrees. A weak cold front will slowly push into Houston tonight. It won’t bring any rain but it should cool cool things off a little bit for the weekend.

SATURDAY

This should be a pleasant late winter day, with lows around 50 degrees rising into the upper 60s under mostly sunny skies. Light northerly winds.

Warm-up begins

From a meteorologist’s standpoint, it has been exceptionally boring of late in the Houston area and much of Texas for that matter. Most people certainly won’t complain though. Since January 7th, we’ve accumulated a whopping 0.84″ of rain officially in Houston. Typically, this is our driest time of year, but given the expectations that we may have had with this so called “Godzilla” El Nino, there’s no question rainfall has been something of a disappointment here (and in California for that matter, though the crucial snow pack has held strong so far).

But I digress…

The next few days look brilliant.

TODAY

Pick your favorite positive adjective and use it to describe today: Super, brilliant, excellent, stellar, epic, amazing, wonderful… It looks great. Wall to wall sunshine is expected, with high temps pushing or eclipsing 75° officially. While not as desert-like as it was earlier this week, humidity will remain low.

Still cold, still dry, but mild weather on the way for awhile

It’s another cold morning, with temperatures ranging from below freezing in areas like Conroe up into the low 40s closer to the coast.

TODAY

It’s still very dry, but dewpoints have recovered some this morning to about 30 degrees. This, at least, is above the desert-level dry air we’ve had. We’ll see full sunshine today, with highs in the upper 60s. After the early chill dissipates it will be a beautiful day.

THURSDAY and FRIDAY

The warming trend continues and we’ll begin to see moisture return from the Gulf of Mexico. This will allow highs to reach the mid-70s under mostly sunny skies on both days, while lows generally remain in the low 50s. It will definitely feel spring-like outside.
