It’s chilly across Houston this morning, with lows ranging from the upper 30s for areas well inland to about 50 degrees on the coast. This cooler pattern, with highs only rising into the low 60s and splendid sunny days, will remain in place through Saturday.
SUNDAY
Onshore flow resumes from the Gulf of Mexico, increasing clouds, raising high temperatures to about 70 degrees and bringing back a slight chance of rain.
MONDAY-TUESDAY
In addition to warmer temperatures and more humid conditions, an upper-level disturbance on Monday will bring a good chance of rain to the area, perhaps quite a bit of rain, on Monday and Tuesday.
The system is proving difficult to forecast, and I could see Houston getting anywhere from a few tenths of an inch of rain to a few inches of rain. We’ll have to watch this and see, although I wouldn’t anticipate widespread flooding at this time.
WEDNESDAY
A weak cool front will move through the region, likely late Tuesday, drying us out and bringing somewhat colder temperatures to the region. But at this point the respite looks brief.
CHRISTMAS EVE and BEYOND
Right now the default forecast for December 24th and 25th is for warmer conditions, with highs possibly in the upper 70s on Christmas Day. I don’t have complete confidence in right now in a temperature forecast eight days out.
