Good morning and welcome to my look at the week ahead.
TODAY
Moist air has begun returning from the Gulf of Mexico, in fact the relative humidity at Bush Intercontinental Airport was 100 percent this morning at 6 a.m. We’ll nonetheless have a pleasant enough day, with highs in the upper 70s and mostly sunny skies.
WEDNESDAY
We’ll see very warm conditions for mid-November on Wednesday, with high temperatures likely rising into the low 80s across most of the area and ample humidity. During the afternoon and evening hours we’ll also see scattered rain chances as a front approaches Houston, and crosses through sometime on Wednesday evening or Thursday morning. I can’t see most areas getting more than a few tenths of an inch of rain, if that.
THURSDAY-SATURDAY
Pleasant fall-like weather will prevail in the wake of the front, with a mix of sunny and cloudy days through Saturday, highs generally in the upper 60s and lows in the lower 50s. Although there’s a slight chance of scattered showers on Saturday, and we won’t see that much sunshine, I think most of the area will remain dry. This is certainly the best outlook we’ve had for a weekend day since mid-October.
SUNDAY
Moisture returns to the atmosphere and an upper-level system brings some instability. As a result scattered thunderstorms will be possible. Still, I don’t anticipate significant rain from these storms, and much of the region probably will see sprinkles at most.
Finally, next week during the Monday through Wednesday period, we could see some heavier rains, with accumulations of perhaps 1 to 3 inches, in association with the next cold front. It’s something I’ll be watching.

Thank you Eric! I rely on your forecasts for all my hunting and fishing plans. You always call it like it is! Appreciate you, Sir!
P.S. An accurate wind speed and direction forecast is a real necessity in my world!
I’ll do more on winds, then, thanks for the suggestion.
“something you’ll be watching”. sounds cryptic, borderline potentially ominous. am i reading too much into this?
Congratulations on the nice transition from the Chronicle to this nice new service. You were very effective in your post at the Chronicle, and I hope when you write on non-weather science topics, you will provide links. Hoping you can make a good living doing this, as it is really nice to get your daily interpretation at the local scale. I bulk up on data at Weather Underground, then come to you and find out what it means. Best wishes.
Thanks Bob, and welcome.
