Thanks to a cool front stalled across the area, Houston feels a little bit cooler, and just a bit drier this morning. It’s definitely not fall—but it feels pretty decent.
The net effect of this drier air filtering into the region is that we should see decidedly fewer rain showers for a couple of days. Some spotty showers will be possible along and near the coast later this afternoon, but for inland areas rain chances should be near zero with highs near 90 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Similar conditions should prevail on Monday, with only slight rain chances.
But never fear, moisture levels should rise again by late Monday or Tuesday, putting us back into a more rainy pattern, with highs around 90 degrees, or just a touch lower, and lows in the mid-70s, for most of the rest of the work week. I wouldn’t expect any significant flooding issues from these rains (I’d guess we’ll see accumulations of 1-1.5 inches or so), but we should definitely be more soggy and gray, than sunny and blue.
Our next real chance of a cold front may come in about 8 to 10 days. Until then enjoy the clear skies and not entirely scalding weather today, and rejoice in the fact that we may only have a dozen or so 90-degree days left in 2016.
