Good morning. Houston will experience a bit of a warming trend before a cold front shakes things up this weekend. After that, conditions should feel more fall like for the remainder of November.
Tuesday and Wednesday
Drier, easterly winds will give way to a more southerly flow tonight, and that will allow for humidity levels to rise Tuesday night and into Wednesday. Aside from that, conditions won’t change too much, with highs near 80 degrees under mostly sunny skies, and overnight lows in the low 60s for inland areas, and mid- to upper-60s along the coast.
Thursday and Friday
These will be the warmest days of the week, as high temperatures climb into the low 80s, and overnight lows reach near 70 degrees along the coast. We’ll see some low rain chances, but any precipitation that falls will be slight, and short-lived.
Saturday and Sunday
A cold front is on tap for sometime Saturday, but exactly when is not yet clear. It appears as though a broken line of showers will accompany the front as it moves through Houston, but this should be nothing to write home about. Highs Saturday will depend upon what time the cool front pushes into Houston, but I think at least the southern half of the city has a chance to reach the upper 70s or 80 degrees. Saturday night will be cool in the wake of the front. Sunday looks exceptional, with sunny skies, a high near 70, and a cool night with lows in the upper 40s for inland areas.
Next week
After this weekend comes a holiday week for kids—and some adults. The general pattern is going to be toward warmer weather (in this case, highs in the 70s, with moderately warmer nights than Monday morning), along with some moderate rain chances. Then, another front looks set to move through by or before Thanksgiving. Our Turkey Day weather will depend a lot upon the timing of this front. I think we’re looking at everything from a cold day with high of around 50 up to 70 degrees, with the possibility of a gray, drizzly day. I’ll take a deeper dive into the Thanksgiving outlook in Wednesday’s forecast.
Those are some pretty healthy error bars to the right of the graph – maybe we’re 15 degrees above normal, maybe 15 below. Why bother?
Welcome to forecasting. In truth, most of the time the forecast after 7-8 days is that uncertain.
Glad to see you admit it, unlike many of those that forecast crude oil and the stock market.
I really hope it doesn’t rain in the Galleria area Saturday morning before noon! We are hosting my son’s birthday party outside. I know, first world problems, but I’m saying a prayer!
