If you live well inland, you can just feel the effects of Tuesday’s front this morning. Low temperatures in places like Conroe, Crockett, and Cleveland all fell into the upper 60s, with most of the rest of Houston reaching the low- to mid-70s. Humidity levels remain quite high this morning, but the temperatures certainly are a welcome change from the super-warm mornings we experienced this weekend. Thursday morning should be similar, in terms of temperature, so enjoy this while it lasts. Otherwise, we’re going to be very warm for awhile.
Wednesday
Some areas southwest of Houston—Colorado, Wharton, Jackson, and Brazoria counties—are seeing dense fog this morning. It should burn off a little later this morning. Elsewhere, after the slightly cooler start, clear skies should allow high temperatures to reach into the upper 90s. Winds will be light, and out of the northwest, with rain chances near nil.
Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
The story will be much the same from Thursday through the weekend, with mostly sunny skies. Highs will likely range from 95 to 100 degrees for most of the area, with slightly cooler temperatures along the coast. Daytime temperatures will depend upon the extent to which clouds can develop during the afternoon hours, but for most of us, mostly clear skies will lead to very warm temperatures. Rain chances remain near zero through Saturday, before a slight chance of rain on Sunday afternoon. I hope you like it hot, because the next several days are going to deliver.
Next week
We’re still anticipating a pattern change, as high pressure backs off, and the region opens up to more moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. This should mean better rain chances by Monday or Tuesday, more clouds, and temperatures falling back into the mid- or even lower-90s. Temperatures won’t be cool by any stretch of the imagination, but for early August this won’t be bad weather at all.
Some local forecasters were stating Tuesday’s storms could produce the amounts of rain we saw for the 4th of July. Is that still the view? Should we be prepared for flooding of streets and houses again?
