Good morning. This week will start out very hot for June, but as Matt noted on Friday an actual cool front will arrive by Tuesday night to bring some relief from the humidity. Days are are still going to be hot of course, but the drier air in the wake of this front will definitely make for some pleasant evenings and mornings that are rare in Houston, in June.
Monday
The center of Tropical Depression Cristobal has now moved inland over southern Louisiana and Mississippi and is bringing heavy rains to the deep south. Houston likes on the extreme western edge of the storm and may see some very scattered, brief showers as a result today. However, skies will be mostly sunny and the bigger story will be heat as high temperatures push into the mid- or upper 90s today. (For reference, highs in most locations on Sunday peaked at about 95 degrees). Winds will be out of the west at 5 to 10 mph, and lows tonight will provide little relief with temperatures falling only to around 80 degrees for most.
Tuesday
This will be the warmest day of the week for Houston—and probably the warmest day so far of 2020. With mostly sunny skies and a light southerly wind, expect highs to reach the upper 90s, with some inland areas possibly pushing 100 degrees. Typically, Houston records its first 100-degree day in mid-July, so this would be quite early.
Wednesday
At some point late on Tuesday night, probably between midnight and sunrise on Wednesday morning, a broken line of showers and thunderstorms will push through the region. This will herald the arrival of a front, with drier air behind. Although highs will get into the mid-90s on Wednesday with plenty of sunshine, the drier air will be noticeable as the sun begins to drop. Lows Wednesday night should get down to the upper 60s for inland areas, to about 70 degrees in the city, and a slightly warmer along the coast.
Thursday and Friday
These should be, for June, nice days with highs in the mid-90s, and lows near 70 degrees. You will be able to feel the lower humidities and it should really make a difference in the mornings and evenings.
Saturday and Sunday
The weekend looks hot and sunny, as humidity levels recover. Look for highs in the mid-90s to prevail.
Next week
Heat continues next week, with no real sign of rain showers after this week’s cool front. As we get deeper into June the lack of rain will probably become a bigger story, and we’ll touch on that a bit more tomorrow.

If you could figure out that it was a typo, pretty much everyone else could as well. Eric and Matt work their tails off to give us fantastic FREE weather forecasts without creating unnecessary weather-related anxiety. The least we can do is to not nitpick an occasional typo. Every single time somebody feels the need to make a thing out of it when the easiest thing would be to just smirk with your superiority and move on. Yes, you have the right to point out a typo, but should you? I say no. Others will probably disagree. In any event, I’m sure that Eric and Matt will be happy to refund everything you’ve paid them if you can’t take an occasional typo.

I agree that Eric & Matt provide a phenomenal service with a near flawless track record. That being said – let’s not minimize a mistake by calling it a “typo.” The final product of all Eric & Matt’s meteorological expertise is a “written word” forecast. I am sure they appreciate that the attention to detail (what you call “nitpick”) that compelled the reader to post is the same trait that led them to this website in the first place.

We hit our first 100 degree day on Saturday in 77098. Sunday measured 99.
Ryan, I also live in 77098. Did your temperature gauge really hit 100?!! Sheesh! I thought it felt pretty hot but thought I was just being a wuss. Feeling less so now, thanks.

It has been said before – but it bears repeating that many of us truly appreciate BOTH Eric’s and Matt’s great weather reports.
I don’t bother watching local TV weather (too much noise) and only read this website daily for what I need to know about the forecast.
A bonafide cool front!! Now that’s amazing!!! Must be some of that snow that is falling in Colorado right now…. got friends up there getting snowed on today! I think they’re blowing it our way… LOL LOL LOL What a GREAT and WONDERFUL world we live in!
