Gradually warming this week, rain possible next weekend

What a gorgeous weekend. Our run of sunny, winter-like weather will continue today and Tuesday before warming up this week.

MONDAY-TUESDAY

High pressure will keep things cool and sunny, with highs around 70 degrees, and overnight lows on Tuesday morning in the upper 40s. Basically, the weekend weather continues for a couple of more days.

WEDNESDAY-FRIDAY

After high pressure finally moves off to the east we’ll see a return flow from the Gulf of Mexico gradually build up. Skies will remain partly to mostly sunny, however, because there’s so little moisture to begin with over the Houston area.

Expect highs to rise from the mid-70s on Wednesday to the upper 70s to nearly 80 degrees on Friday. Overnight lows will rise from 50 degrees on Wednesday to nearly 70 degrees on Saturday morning.

All the sunshine

If you liked the original episode of “Sunny and Cool December Day,” you will love the rerun that will air today.

TODAY-TUESDAY

As Eric has been laying out, this is a pretty straightforward, almost boring weather pattern that we are lodged in. Boring weather is a very, very good thing right now. Houston gets “all” the sunshine. We still have another weak and dry cold front projected to move through later this weekend. You may notice a wind shift or a few extra clouds ahead of it and with it Saturday into Sunday morning. Aside from that, it’ll be tough to differentiate each day over the next five to six days: Lows generally in the 40s in Houston (30s in some outlying areas), with highs in the 60s.

Cool days and cold nights: Our new normal

Temperatures are quite cool across the Houston area this morning, with lows around 40 degrees. Welcome to the new normal.

TODAY-TUESDAY

Houston will see more or less similar conditions for the next six days — highs in the 60s, lows in the low- to mid-40s, with lots of sunshine. Just when the onshore flow would resume this weekend it looks like another cool front will arrive to keep us in this pattern through the first part of next week. Rain chances are near nil.

Here comes the Sun — for a long while

Finally, the Sun returns today. And it’s going to stay awhile. This is an easy forecast.

With high pressure moving into Texas from the west, our skies will clear today, and we’ll see a cool, mostly northerly flow through next Monday.
