Cool days and cold nights: Our new normal

Temperatures are quite cool across the Houston area this morning, with lows around 40 degrees. Welcome to the new normal.

TODAY-TUESDAY

Houston will see more or less similar conditions for the next six days — highs in the 60s, lows in the low- to mid-40s, with lots of sunshine. Just when the onshore flow would resume this weekend it looks like another cool front will arrive to keep us in this pattern through the first part of next week. Rain chances are near nil.

NEXT WEDNESDAY and BEYOND

We’ll warm up during the second half of next week, into next weekend, but not too much. We may be looking at highs in the 70s on Friday. At that time it appears another cold front will approach and move through Texas, although this one could have some storm activity. Our next chance of rain will not come until then, and it looks like there is some potential for thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday of next week.

Still, that’s a long way out, and we’ve got a lot of sunny, cool weather to enjoy until then.
