Houston’s weather this week—boring, and beautiful

Houston’s forecast remains on track, with more or less mild, seasonal weather ahead. There will be some absolutely gorgeous days this week. Speaking of wonderful things—Matt and I want to thank our dear readers for generously contributing to our annual fundraiser, which ended on Sunday. We had more support than ever before, and are already planning some exciting initiatives for early 2020.

Tuesday

It’s a chilly morning, with lows down around 40 degrees for most of the region. However, winds out of the north died on Monday evening, and today they will slide around to come from the east, and then the southwest. This will allow high temperatures to nudge up to around 70 degrees. With mostly sunny skies it should make for an absolutely gorgeous day. Low temperatures on Tuesday night should be about 10 degrees warmer than Monday night.

Wednesday

A weak front will push into Houston on Wednesday, keeping the region’s air dry, and making for another lovely day with highs of around 70 degrees and mostly sunny skies. Low temperatures on Wednesday night should fall somewhere in the 50s for most.

Thursday

After this weak front washes out, Thursday should see the return of the onshore flow, and this—finally, after four solidly sunny days—should see at least a few clouds develop in the sky. Highs will likely warm into the mid-70s, with a moderately warmer night and lows down around 60 degrees.

Friday

But again, just as a warming trend begins, another slightly stronger front should arrive Friday morning. We can’t rule out a few showers with this front, but overall rain chances appear to be low, probably less than 30 percent. The front’s passage should leave yet another stunning day in its wake on Friday, with mostly sunny skies and highs of around 70 degrees. It may be a bit breezy.

Saturday and Sunday

So what does the weekend hold? Saturday will be cooler in the wake of Friday’s front, as northerly air continues to move into the region. This should push lows on Saturday morning into the low 50s, and keep highs in the 60s under mostly sunny skies. Winds should be light, so this will, again, be another very nice day.

On Sunday, ironically, some clouds will move in to the area as moisture begins to return from the south. Highs will rise into the mid 70s, along with some humidity, and a low chance of some light rain showers.

Next week

Monday should be quite a warm day before a cold front arrives around Tuesday. It’s too early to determine how strong the front will be, but it seems likely that most of next week will be colder than this one, with some overnight lows in the 40s and possibly 30s.

  1. Any guesses on where we stand on have anymore freezing temperatures this season? Our nighttime temperatures seem to have moderated.

  2. Thanks guys. Glad to hear fundraising went well. I’ve got what you would probably consider the budget package of weather toys which is expensive enough. I can only imagine what you guys dish out. It’s all worth it though as you are my #1 Houston/SE Texas go to site. 😀

  3. Love the mild daily temps with a good breeze, that we’ve been having. However, the accompanying 38 – 40 degree overnight/morning low is just keeping all the kids snot nosed and feeling ill.
