After the weekend “storms” Houston to see some lovely spring weather

Good morning everyone. After a fairly stormy period for the region (not counting Sunday, which yes, was a lousy forecast for much of the area), the Houston region will enjoy some really nice April weather later this week after a front that “sticks.”

Today

The large storm system that raked east Texas and western Louisiana on Sunday has moved on to Alabama, Mississippi, and the toe of the Louisiana boot. In its wake Houston will see clear skies today, and the short-lived effects of Sunday’s cool front (this morning, basically) will give way to a warm day in the mid-80s. Lows tonight will only fall into the low- to mid-60s.

Tuesday

Another warm day that may test some high temperature records across the region. I’m looking for highs in the mid- to upper-80s with lots of sunshine for Houston. Look for some gusty southerly winds during the daytime as the onshore flow really gets moving.

Tuesday will be a warm one across the Houston region. (Weather Bell)

Wednesday

A cold front appears set to push into Houston late Tuesday night or early Wednesday—and right now I’d peg the timing at around sunrise Wednesday. Although there will be a bit of moisture to work with, the frontal passage will probably be dry for most people.

For April, this will be a fairly strong front, and in its wake winds will be gusting on Wednesday into the mid-20s mph as drier air blows into the region. Most areas should see highs Wednesday only around 75 degrees, and temperatures will fall off during the evening hours. Some areas in Montgomery County may see lows Wednesday night in the 40s, while most of the city is in the low 50s.

Thursday and Friday

Play hooky! Both days should see high temperatures in the mid- to upper-70s, with lots of sunshine, and overnight lows in the 50s. Nigh perfect.

Saturday and Sunday

We’ll be warming up some, as the southerly flow continues. But as of right now, I’m looking for high temperatures in the low 80s this weekend, with very low, to almost no chance of rain. Plan your outdoor activities accordingly!

  1. Thank you Eric for your heartfelt apology that there was some information that was not accurate. It is very impressive when people point out that are not perfect, and take accountability.
While I am very clear that weather forecasters can make predictions…I am also very clear that weather patterns can change very quickly.

Thank you for being honest and delivering factual information.

  2. Thank you for the great weekend forecast!!! The Woodlands Waterway Art Festival is all outdoors beginning Friday.

  3. Well there were two schools of thought regarding Sunday. Later models showed it may stay north. Considering outdoor activities and other life plans, you have to be aware. Simply glad you all are giving us advance information in which to plan. Thanks for what you do!
